Viking & Anglo-Saxon School Visits
The Vikings were the hammer and the Anglo-Saxons the anvil. From the flames of war, a new kingdom was forged. Yet when these two peoples were not fighting, they lived side by side, intermarried, and raised families.
I portray a tenth-century Anglo-Scandinavian character, with a Norse father and an Anglian mother. He is known by two names and torn between two worlds. Through him, you can explore the Vikings, the Anglo-Saxons, or both. Bound together in the heat of history, these two cultures shaped a new country: England.
Watch the video, meet my character, and hear what he has to say. Choose one or both of the experiences below and complete the contact form. I will get back to you as soon as possible with a quotation and further information.
Viking Experience
Olaf the Beardless: Should I become a Viking like my grandfather, sail across the seas in a dragon ship, and win everlasting glory in the service of Gunnhild, Mother of Kings? If this is to be my fate, I’m going to need a crew.
Swear your oath upon the spear of Odin. Explore the contents of my sea chest. Send a secret message using runes. Sharpen your wits with a game of Hnefatafl. Challenge me to a duel in the holmgang. Discover how the world will end at Ragnarök.
Anglo-Saxon Experience
Oswald the Wordsmith: Should I follow the old Roman roads like my father, swear my oath in the mead hall, and fight in the shield wall of the Saxon King Eadred? I must do my duty, and I cannot go alone.
Join my warband and earn an arm ring. Test your strength wearing full armour. Enjoy a game of Nine Men’s Morris. Follow the rules of a Christian monastery. Stand firm in the shield wall. Hear the epic tale of Beowulf and Grendel.
Virtual Experience
Olaf or Oswald: Winter has returned. The harvest is gathered, and the nights grow longer. It is the perfect time to sit by the fire and hear a story—live via interactive video link.
Choose the Viking way, the Anglo-Saxon path, or both. Explore the treasures. Learn about gods and kings. Ask your own questions. With some modern magic, you can explore this period wherever you are in Middle-earth or in any of the Nine Worlds.
I can specifically tailor my sessions to meet your needs and have delivered presentations on a wide range of subjects, including The Battle of Hastings and Norse Mythology.
